Let's Pull Down All The Buildings

"Let's Pull Down All The Buildings" (for Aveling and Porter)

Oh, I tried to understand the story of the man with the clip-board
from corridors in town
His eyes were as grey as the slate in the tiles on the roof of the church
Before they pulled it down
He sat every Monday with the Planning Committee
Drawing stripes on projections of our wonderful city
Flip-Charts bent double with ripening schemes
Then water the cactus and it's off to the wine bar

To talk about Annual Reports in conversation
Compulsory Purchase with light compensation
They couldn't recall who sang "My Generation"
It's yesterday's music so it bears no relation

Let's Pull Down All The Buildings
Because they stand in the way
We have big plans for the future
They don't include yesterday

Oh, I tried to comprehend the reason why they buzzed round a desk
On a regular basis
To talk with the men from the Supreme side of town
To assess corporation and enforced uniformity
It came back to me in the flash of a frenzy
The buildings are gone but we still have the memory
Spending our days with the ghost of our past
There's no time at all between memories and reality

Let's Pull Down All The Buildings
Because they stand in the way
We have big plans for the future
They don't include yesterday

Getting My Own Back(On You) by Unlucky Fried Kitten

Getting My Own Back (On You) by Unlucky Fried Kitten

You came to my concert, you stood at the front
You used to be lovely, now you're a ****
You used to be trendy and rich as a bank
Now you are potless, you ain't worth a ****

Getting my own back
Getting my own back
Getting my own back...on you

We met in the juniors, yeah, we were so young
We started a pop band, with songs that we sung
You were the singer, you stood at the front
Now you're a loser, and you are a ****

Getting my own back
Getting my own back
Getting my own back...on you
